There is not enough recognition for the abuse that goes on in our society. Often times we do not even hear about it because women are too afraid to report it. Raising awareness and trying to help women deal with the abuse they have dealt will hopefully be educating. I have heard stories from friends who have dealt with abusive relationships and until I had heard about them, I didn't think such things happened. A man is supposed to treat a woman with respect and be there to take care of her. Why has it come to the fact that he is doing the total opposite and abusing her? Most men do not see that they are doing anything wrong and don't know why their partner would even think of leaving them. It is hard to say you would never let yourself be in such a relationship until it is you who is actually the one experiencing it first hand.
How Abuse Begins
I chose this chapter because I want to know more on why abuse begins. Most of the time, women never expect that their partner will become abusive. The relationship with their partner usually starts out so well. There is that one incident that may just throw him over the edge. In an article below, she dated her fiance for four years and he never showed any signs of violence and then one day it totally changed.
There are many warning signs of abuse. It is so easy to say that we would get out of an abusive relationship but sometimes women are fearful to leave. It is hard to really understand an abuse situation unless it is experienced or seen. There are many ways for a woman to protect herself and try to obstain from being in an abusive relationship.
This is a link to a newspaper close to my home. It is crazy to hear something like this in the city I am from. I know that it happens but it is never really heard of since it is a smaller town.

All problems seem to stem from different issues. Sometimes it is a little eruption and may seem like nothing but can later branch into an even bigger problem.

Domestic Violence Commercial:
IM THE HOUSEI’m known as the house
Filled with love and happiness…
With a loving mom and dad
Children playing, making a mess…
Many loving years went by
Then mom and dad passed away…
The grown kids all married
The house was sold today…
It seemed in a short time
A new family moved in…
Although something about them gave
Me such a bad feeling…
Nothing was like before, when
The arguments started within days…
The threats, the violence daily
No love, I’m so amazed…
My walls absorbed the echoes
Of her nightly frightened screams…
Hate filled every inch of
My house, so it seems…
Her blood permanently stained my
Once beautiful wooden floors…
Then there are the fist-holes
Damaging my once antique doors…
My staircase once so loving
Polished to a beautiful shine…
Blood-soaked from him beating her
When filled with his wine…
My windows would constantly rattle
With the level of his wrath…
I fear I will never
Recover from his violent aftermath…
Now, there is no love
In the terror filled home…
After him killer her than himself
I’m once again all alone…
For years a loving house
Family loved day and night…
But now I’ll be remembered
Only as the crime-scene site…
